Friedrich August Hayek

Reading about the lives of any sort of Renaissance man (or woman) gets me fired up. And when the person is a passionate economist associated with the University of Chicago (during his time on this side of the Atlantic) I get even more excited.

The Library of Economics and Liberty has an excellent bio of Hayek that is worth the read. I am planning to read at least one of his books before starting at the GSB.

What say we put "The Road to Serfdom" on our reading list? Think we could get Silent Omaha to read it with us?

Yeah, I think we could get him to read it. He emailed the other day...and even posted here per my request. ;)

I'm heading to B&N tonight with a gift card so I hope to return with it in hand.

Let me know if you get it. I'll find a way to get a copy myself.

Didn't get it last night. Rain hammpered our attempts to get to BN. I'll try again tonight.

It's pretty cheap on Amazon.com and I have been authorized for the expenditure; I just can't bring myself to spend $4 on shipping for a $10 book. So, I'm going to try the used bookstore (since we don't have a real bookstore in town, just a Waldenbooks) and if I have to, I'll stop by BN or Borders the next time I'm in a real city.

Yup, you'll either want to wait until you have another $15 in books you want, or pick it up locally.
