Family Visit

We had a great visit by my parents and sister yesterday afternoon/evening. We checked out the Summit Club and the Bergen Gardens and then took a walk down to Promontory Point. Had a wonderful dinner that Pa'lee and I prepared (mostly Pa'lee) and then got ice cream and watched Whalerider (a good movie if you haven't seen it...very complex with many themes).

We stopped by the Barn and no one was home. I left the Yancey books on the front porch, hopefully the right people found them. ;)

If you're wondering why I'm up so late. . .I'm installing Service Pack 2 (finally). Guh.

I considered installing SP2, but I decided otherwise because I heard it wasn't compatible with Redhat.

Seriously though, I wiped my last Win* box yesterday. The only Win boxes in my house are my (work owned) laptop and my wife's box.

But what of Tribes?!

I'm going to check into Wine and see if that will do it for me.

I'm also going to buy a copy of VMWare for the half dozen apps I still need sometimes...

I could download SP2 but I've decided to wait it out for a while...

Installing SP2 greatly increased my DSL speeds, especially initial connection speeds. That alone made it worthwhile. I haven't run into anything annoying yet. I made sure to turn off the auto-update function at the earliest possible junction.
