I don't know if this is acceptable under the Gmail EULA, but the Gmail Drive is awesome. Get a Gmail account, then get the Gmail Drive shell - it adds a Gmail drive to Windows Explorer just like an additional drive. Very cool. Unfortunately file size is limited to 10 MB, so I can't backup my Outlook file.
By the way, if anyone needs a gmail account let me know; I've got a few.
Posted by Jeremy Showalter at February 10, 2005 02:38 PMSounds pretty cool! I read about it on Lifehacker.com today. I think I'm going to try it out.
Posted by: JDiddy at February 10, 2005 05:57 PMBeen using it for a while - perfect so far. It is smart enough to figure out if it is a stored file or an actual e-mail. Actually, I use gmail forwarding, but something in the header(?) prevents it from being forwarded - which works perfectly for me. The other big plus is that it works with firewalls.
Posted by: sorebrek at February 10, 2005 07:55 PMI sure would like to have gmail account.
i have not yet been offered one.
thanks jean-marc

I've got 150 invites in case anyone is interested.
I also have a small script that compresses and sends my mysql databases to a gmail account for me on a daily basis. They're only about 12 megs, so I have to clean it out every 60 days or so, but that's very easy.
Posted by: KC at February 11, 2005 08:28 AMVery cool. I seem to get more invites as soon as I use them. How'd you beat the 10 Mb limit? I seem to have problems with my little scheme.
