Script Hypocrisy

This past weekend we saw Star Wars with some friends. Fun movie overall - particularly in additional depth the characters seemed to have. One line that caught my ear was almost comical in its lack of logical structure.

Spoiler

At one point, Obi-Wan is fighting Anakin; Anakin makes some statement about Jedi's or the Force or something...Obi-Wan replies with "Only the Dark Sith speak in absolutes." Hehe...unfortunately Obi-Wan forgot to use less absolute language when passing judgment on Anakin.

While I liked the movie, I thought that was just one of many lines of weak dialogue. I think the movie succeeds despite the script, not because of it.

Excellent assessment of the script. A number of other lines were nearly laughable...in fact the audience did have a few laughs at inappropriate times!

Anaking says "If you're not with me, then you're against me!"

This is why so many people are saying Bush == The Emporer. Of course, if you follow that reasoning, you have say that Yoda and/or Obi Wan is Osama.

That Anakin line is also straight out of Ben Hur. It seems the script was the weak point of the movie...
