Information out today about Office 12 and the timeline around beta and release. Interesting commentary about SOX, related to Office documents.

This week I received a "requirements document" from one of my major clients. I went to review it with one of the other developers on the project and we noted that it read like a brainstorming session for features. They weren't grouped into functional areas like requirements normally are and there were some obvious typos. I joked that they threw it together at Close of Business last Friday.
Well, since it was a Word doc that we were reading in Open Office, I went and hit "Show Changes."
Sure enough... the previous - now deleted - title of the document was "Meeting Notes - 05/20" and the timestamps on the changes were all after 4pm.
Gotta love Change Tracking.
