Gringo News

Today I also need to post again regarding some friends of ours from DC that moved down to Bolivia to live/work at the Stansberry Children's Home. They recently adopted an adorable daughter...and last week Alex survived a scropion sting! Yikes! :) They've got a LiveJournal site at Gringo News and another one regarding the work projects and Julie has a photo journal (see example below) off her personal site.

IE7 Beta 2

The IE7 Beta 2 was released today. I installed today and have been exploring my usual websites to see how things look. The magnification button is pretty cool and will be appreciated by previous generations. Also I've started looking at Onfolio, a web research and feed reading plug-in. Might be helpful when researching for papers later this quarter. Onfolio is part of the Windows Live toolbar.

Clustr Maps

I added a mini Clustr map the other day. Pretty cool stuff.

Noguchi Coffee Table

My attempts at making a Noguchi coffee table (ok having it made for me) are over. I had the glass surface priced and it was $1500...surprising since the table sells for around $1200 (much cheaper reproductions available). This is what it would have looked like along with my scale drawing (made in Visio).

7 Weeks

This quarter has been progressing quickly...it's already almost the end of 3rd week. I've got a case write-up I need to complete today, which is a bummer considering my bi-annual cold hit me last night and I don't feel so well.

Heading back to Goshen this weekend for Easter weekend. While the University doesn't honor Good Friday, at least we can take off a little early.

Captcha

I've been a bit blog weary as I spend time each day cleaning up comment spam - becuase I didn't have the time to find and figure out a decent captcha install. Thanks to some help from bloggenspiel I think I'm good to go, which also means I hope to spend previous spam cleaning time posting instead of cleaning. :)

DC Bound

It's been a while since I last posted, although that shouldn't be surprising given the beginning of quarters here...especially if you catch a red-eye back into town the Monday classes start. :) Actually I took a voucher instead of the red-eye back from Seattle ended up missing classes on Monday. Not nearly as cool as some of my classmates who ditched the first week's classes when returning from trips, but it's their last quarter...

I'm headed to DC tomorrow morning for a Jonathan House reunion weekend. It's the 20th year anniversary of the founding of an intentional community of young men on Capitol Hill (three blocks from the Capitol Building). I lived there in 2000-2001 when I first moved out to DC and it was an important part of my transition to urban life. I'm looking forward to catching up and meeting the new and former J House guys.
