Skyway Chicago - Westbound

If you are ever headed westbound on the Skyway into Chicago there are two simple things to remember.

1. There are 3 lanes across the skyway
2. Stay in the far right lane across the skyway

Signs will imply that the far right lane is IPass or whatever the electronic payment system is called; it is misleading. The far right lane splits into multiple lanes one of which is a Cash/IPass lane.

Fastest way through an unbearable Memorial Day 3 mile backup.

Summer Travel

I might have posted previously, but if not we're headed to Spain and France for a couple weeks with some friends of ours next month. Then my significant other will be studying in a summer seminar at Oxford for three weeks, so I'm planning on taking that time for some further travel. :)

I've been using Local Live Beta for mapping and some of the driving planning and some cool new features were released this week. I actually first read about it on Scobelizer although I had noticed the change on Tuesday.

I do think the traffic information for ~40 major cities is very cool.

Found a Home

Big news...we're finally in the process of being home owners. Ok, the reality is the bank owns the home we'll just be paying for it. :)

The first week of May we flew out from Chicago to continue our house-hunting in person. I had been out over spring break for a preliminary trip and we've continued to do a lot of searching on various sites including Refin.com, NW MLS, and others.

I was waiting to post until we'd cleared most of the details (and I was swamped). We close in about a week so definitely excited about this step...and the home improvements/repairs we'll be needing to make.

Ode to my Timex

I'll post a picture tomorrow...my Timex Indiglo clock has lasted me nearly 8 years now. I'm not sure exactly when Jacob bequethed it to me, but it was sometime at Rose-Hulman during Junior or Senior year. The Indiglo feature no longer works...in fact since it's not backlit it isn't very functional as a nighttime clock, but it works great at waking me up.
